Meet (Beat) Me In St. Louie, Louie.....

Today I woke up to the news that my home town of St. Louis overtook Camden, N.J., as the nation's most dangerous city in 2009, according to a national study.

The study found St. Louis had 2,070.1 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, compared with a national average of 429.4. That helped St. Louis beat out Camden, which topped last year's list and was the most dangerous city for 2003 and 2004.

St. Louis is a city like any other - good neighborhoods, bad neighborhoods, jerks and angels. When the Boston Red Sox and their fans came to St. Louis for the World Series - the people of Boston were actually dumbfounded by how "nice" and "polite" the people of St. Louis are - no riots when we lost, no beating up the Bostonians - by and large, we felt kind of happy for them to FINALLY get a World Series win.
A lot of the crime in St. Louis is courtesy of East St. Louis a**holes. They've already stolen or burned down everything over there, so they take their act on the road. They're busily destroying the surrounding communities in southern IL, but of course, since Chicago is the one and only concern of the IL gov't, it's just being allowed (encouraged) to happen.

Maybe one of the reasons the 'statistics' are so bad is that people in St. Louis take crime seriously, report it, and expect something to be done about it.
