Goodtime Charlie's Got The Blues......

Only recently one of the most powerful members of Congress, Rangel was reduced to pleading in vain for colleagues to give him time to raise money for a lawyer before taking up the charges. The 80-year-old congressman left when they said no, and the rare proceeding — only the second for this type of hearing in two decades — went on without him.

If the charges are "nothing serious," as Charlie Rangel has repeatedly claimed, why does he need to spend $2 million on legal counsel BEFORE the "trial" even starts? This isn't OJ. A single competent attorney, not a team of prima donna legal eagles would appear all that is required for a defense. This guy is talking out of both sides of his mouth, playing the victim, storming out of the very first hearing, after he's spent 40 years milking the taxpayer to buy votes and set up monuments to his ego. Now he wants time to set up a legal defense fund so he can bleed the people some more.

Walking out of the courtroom this morning is a ruse on his part. He has known since June that this case would be brought to trial in the future, and he was most likely betting the committee would not follow through with charges. His claim that he doesn't have money for lawyers is another lie by this very arrogant congressman who has been in office for many years. I pray that the Harlem voters get some sense and vote for someone in their district that has some ethics. There are many charges--the most egregious is his failure to pay taxes on property. Let any of us fail to pay taxes and see what happens. I would be writing this from jail. And he claims his family is going thru HELL. Well, Charlie, you were the one that put them there.

He's the epitome of what is wrong in Washington today. Terms limits and a flat tax are the only solution to this kind of endemic corruption.
